MY dashboard background light won't work(can't see how fast I;m driving, fuel guage, etc), fuse for this is under the hood and blows when I turn the head lights on. If the truck is running when I turn on the headlights they will not shut off. I must disconnect the battery cable to shut them off. BUt, if the engine is not on, then the headlight switch works ok......my intial thought is that I have a short in the dasboard light so it blows the fuse as soon as I turn on the head lights, but I don't know why my headlights are stuck on if turned on while truck is running.

I don't know if anyone has the answer but if you can at least point me in a direction, or mechanic, or dealer, or whatever , I would appreciate it!

Sounds like you have the same w/s leak getting onto the LCM/GEM/fuse block as everyone else. Do a few searches & read about it.
