Headlights for the boondocks

Has anyone discovered an affordable way to switch from the stock headlights on 05, 06, 07 F150s to Xenon projector headlights? We've got deer coming out of our ears up here in ND and I'd like to see 'em in the ditch before they get to the road. I'd like headlights that project light like the imports from Germany. Ideas, guys and gals? Thanks.

Most people here just change thier bulbs...I am waiting for my chance to go to Silverstar bulbs. Its a lot easier and cheaper than replacing to full xeneon headlights. Do you have fog-lights? You could also think about installing a new set of long-range lights that are aftermarket, tons of guys here have done aftermarket lights, behind, infront of the grill on brushguards etc.

There are starting to be some half way decent HID conversion kits out there, but that also means there's a ton of really crummy ones too. So in the words of Clint Eastwood, "Do you feel lucky?"

Another possible path for you to explore is adding a set of lights to work in conjuction with your headlights. Many of us have done it (see my gallery) and I personally think you'll like the results better since your options are greater. With the factory housings, you're a slave to the factory beam pattern and aiming. If you go aftermarket, you can select beam pattern, aiming, power, etc.

As you'll also see in my gallery and signature, I've done the Silverstar conversion in both my headlights and fogs. In my humble opinion, the headlight conversion didn't do much. The (9005) fog light conversion was well worth the money. The biggest difference though was the Hella 550 driving lights behind the grill with 130 watt bulbs and wired to come on with the high beams. Now that's some serious lighting!
