Need Help Wiring Bed Lights
Need Help Wiring Bed Lights
I bought the Recon underrail bed lights. These lights are in series and have a black wire, and a black wire with a white stripe.
I ran the power wire from the fuse box back to the taillight to where I want to mount my switch. I bought a SPST illuminated rocker switch.
My questions are:
1. Where do I land the ground and what do I ground it to on the truck?
2. Where do I land my power from the fuse panel?
3. What is the black wire from the Reconn lights, and where do I land it?
4. What is the black wire with the white stripe, and where do I land it.
5. There are 3 prongs on the switch, what wires do I land here?
Thanks in advance for the help!!

well make sure youre switch is rated to run enough amperage for your lighting system. Also either make sure the switch is sealed up, or tucked away from the elements.
but this is what you should do
Battery to switch (in) - your own wire
Ground to switch (in)- your own wire
Switch to lights (out) - black with stripe supplied w/ lights (in)
Lights to ground - black supplied w/ lights (out)
You can ground anywhere on the frame, or bed. Use a flat round connector like the one on the yellow wire in the pic

If you have anyother questions let me know

Pat....
Thanks for your directions, everything works correctly, except.......
the red led on the switch does not work.
This is my third switch. I tried 2 from Radio Shack and they didn't work so I took them back and got a third. I thought the 1st 2 were defective so that is why I took them back. The switch turns on the lights, but the led on the switch does not work.
Any ideas on why the light does not work??
Thanks...
