Drivers Power Seat quit..??

While moving the power seat forward it just stopped. Checked the fuse under the hood (#112 in power dist. box), looked ok and the pedals still adjust (that fuse runs both). The heat switch works too, so I'm guessing it's not the switch.

What else can I check before I know it's the motor? If it is the motor, is that a Ford specific part that has to be gotten from the dealer?

Looking under my seat, I see a small box attached forward center, and a bigger box lower center, near the carpet. Is the upper box (says Bosch on it) the heating element/control for the seat?

Any place online that's good for ordering a seat motor if I need one?

Thanks for the help,

Quick test, unplug the motor and hook up a DC volt meter to the leads. Press the switch for forward, should get +12 V in one polarity. push the switch for back direction, and the polarity should be opposite.

If you see this, you appear to have a bad motor. You can take it out, and test it with another battery on the bench, but don't be shocked if it is dead.

Might sound like dumb question, but the '02 has the seat height motors as well, do these work ? ( I though my '01 did ).

2002 should not have seat position sensors ( at least I don't think so ), so the other units should be for the heated seat ??
Drawing a blank on that right now, and don't have my '01 anymore to check. '04+ have the seat position and weight sensors for the airbag force, and seat location memory, so using my '06 as a guide is a bad idea.
