Question "theft" indicator stayed on

Yesterday after starting my 2005 F 150 XLT (5.4 Triton), the little blinking indicator on top of the dash stayed on. I got to a red light, put the truck in park and shut off the engine. I than restarted the vehicle, and the light went out. After going through the manual, I find that a metal object new to the PATS key could of caused this. It also stated that I should take the vehicle in for service. Does this sound right? Has anyone else had this happen?

Your thoughts...

I dont know what would cause the theft light to stay on like that but i wouldnt worry about it unless the light keeps blinking when you put the key in and try to start it. That is an indication that the key lost its programming. It also wouldnt start. Since you turned off the ign and than turned it back on and the light went out it was probably nothing major. Its not common for the key to lose its programming either by the way. Very rare actually. Hope that helps. If it continues to keep happening than i would definatley have it checked out because you dont want to get stranded some where and your truck not start.
