07 FX4 elec issue
Today I lost all cab electrics for about 5 seconds.
I was waiting for a left turn light. Light goes green and I hit the gas. I heard noise similar to stuttering. I had the radio on so I cant be sure of tone/sound. Suddenly all power in the cab goes out. A/c and radio turned off and gauges all dropped to absolute bottom. No idiot lights either. What surprised me is the truck was still running. About 5 seconds later I heard a loud thud. Almost like I had a jammed compressor or alternator that broke lose and started spinning. I pulled over a few minutes later to check the belts and pulleys and found nothing wrong.
I stopped by the dealer on the way home and he instantly blamed my stereo amp. He told me there was a problem with 07 alternators spiking because of amps. I called BS and explained that everything is fused and I had this exact setup in my 05 XLT and my 06 Lariat with no problems. they visually inspected and didnt see anything. He then told me to go ahead and keep driving and come back if it happens again.
Have you guys heard of this before? Anybody experience similar power failure?
