Digital Temperature Readout?

I just bought an '05 F150 XLT SCAB. Above the digital odometer is a digital readout of the direction I am heading and a temperature. Is that temperature the outside temperature or the temp of one of my fluids? It has shown temp's anywhere from 90 to 135 degrees so I'm hoping it is not suppose to be the outside temperature(it sure as hell isn't 90-135 F in Maine). The truck only has 14,000 miles so I would be kind of surprised that there would be a problem with one of the electrical components already. Anyone know what's going on or had a similar problem?

It's outside temperature + or - a few.I noticed that it starts out at one temp then after you get down the road it changes. You may have a bad sensor, there's a tread on here about others having trouble with the outside temperature readings.I think it's under the hood at the front some were on the R or L of of the rad.

I had a black truck that would read 120 in Michigan in the sun....go down the road for a while and it would cool off to near ambient temp.. My temp display usually lied by two or three degrees.
