93 F150 blinker cruise electr. problem. Help?

93 F150 2wd manual. Blinkers quit about the same time the cruise quit. 4 ways work only sometimes and seem to respond to wiggling the 4 way switch.
abs light comes and goes. Speedometer works fine. Fuses ok, flasher ok. No brake lights.

What do I look for? Thanks, Al.

Likely multiple faults.

Fix the brake lamp circuit first. Check fuse F13 (15A) in the underdash fuse box. It supplies the brake light switch, the cruise module, and the 4-way flasher circuit. Since the 4-ways work intermittently, the fuse is probably okay, but do check it first. Check the brake light switch for power to it and power coming out of it when pressed. Does the high-mount brake light work or is it also out?

I suspect you also have a bad multifunction switch.

Once you fix the brake lamp circuit, check the ABS to see if you still get the intermittent fault light. A proper brake light circuit is required along with several other things.

Test your MFS. Everything that's malfunctioning has a circuit that goes thru it. I've heard they can be had for less than $40 aftermarket at some parts stores. They can also be rebuilt, but it can be a PITA to reassemble them correctly.

Multifunction switch

How do I replace the switch? There is no airbag. Do I need to pull the steering wheel? Does this have that clockspring gizmo that might be involved?
I'm experienced at general repair, just want to get an idea of what I'm getting into and the best way to attack it.

Thanks for the info so far.

However, the question remains: Does the HMSL work or not? It does not go through the MFS. Also, the brake lamp input for the ABS does not go through the MFS.

Go back to my previous instead of starting to just hang parts on the truck. Diagnose it correctly the first time and fix it properly.

You don't, until it tests bad.

No, just the ignition lock cylinder & column shrouds. Turn the key to RUN, push a probe into the small hole beneath it, then pull the cylinder out & the 4 phillips screws. One of the screws is at the R front of the shrouds & can be a PITA. For pics, click the tan CV in my signature then look in the Steering Column album.

Only with airbags.

I replaced the switch and now everything works but the cruise control.

Any ideas for fixing that?

Thanks for the good advice so far.
