relationship between BOO switch and shiftlock actuator
relationship between BOO switch and shiftlock actuator
OK, all brake lights are out. Bulbs good, fuse not blown so I figure stop light switch. Well I've been thinking and realized that if the BOO switch isn't working, then shouldn't the shiftlock actuator (no shift out of Park unless brake is pressed) stop working?? The BOO switch tells the PCM that the brakes are pressed and sends voltage to the shiftlock actuator when the key is in RUN allowing you to shift out of Park. I can shift out of Park fine, there's just no current going to the brake lights apparently. So instead of buying a new switch, I'm thinking it's something in the harness connected into the BOO switch since the shiftlock actuator is getting current but the brake lights are not. Who knows, maybe a wiggle of it will get it going. What do you guys think? Thanks in advance.
The shift lock actuator is operated by a different set of contacts on the BOO than are the brake lamps. Therefore, CJB F13, the BOO, and its associated wiring are still the most likely suspect if ALL (including the high-mount) brake lamps are inoperative. If the high-mount works but the corners don't, then the problem is the MFS.
Additionally, the PCM is in no way involved in the shift lock actuator circuit. It's just the BOO switch, the shift lock actuator, and two fused circuits: one ALWAYS HOT (CJB F15) and the other HOT IN RUN (CJB F6).
