Rear park lights not working.

I have a problem with the rear park lights on an 1998 F150 XLT. They are not working. I have replaced the bulbs and checked all fuses. The front park lights do work and the brake and single lights do work. From what I could gather on-line so far, the park lights are controlled by a brown colored wire. I checked the brown wire at the connection behind the rear axle for power, there was none. Before I start pulling the dash apart and poking holes in the wires to test for connectivity, do I have the correct wire color? I purchased the truck used and did not receive any manuals.

thanks...

Yes, the BR wire is the feed for the rear tail lamp circuit. There are two connectors in the rear of the truck and one under the hood that route the lamp power to the rear. The signal is spliced under the hood to the rest of the circut that supplies the front running lamps.

The service cd has full details of the circuit.

Thanks, I'll try looking for the splice this evening.
