door ajar with no interior lights
door ajar with no interior lights
yes i have a 98 f150 extended cab, and my door ajar light stays on continualy and has so for a couple years now but i have no interior lights. i wrecked it about 3 years ago (got hit in the drivers side and my door ajar light has stayed on ever since) and i thought i remembered pulling the fuse for the interior lights to make them go off. well the other day i decide to see if i can fix it. i buy a book at advance auto that should tell me about everything in the truck and how to fix it. i couldnt find anything about a door ajar. i gave the book to a friend of mine and he took it to a friend of his that knows alot about fords. he told me to cut the wire inside the door panel that is sky blue and with a red stripe. i do so and nothing happens but everything still works. i then notice that there are two of these wires so i cut the other one same thing, door ajar light still on and no interior lights. i then look at the fuses inside the truck and all my fuses are there according the the original owners manual. i pulled and looked at a few of them to see if any of them was blown they was not. so i electrical taped those two wires back together (by the way one goes to the power windows and the other to the power locks) and said i need help. my power locks have only half way worked since i wrecked the truck but now seem to be working less of the time then they did before. which is something else id like to fix if its relatively simple and cheap. if i can provide any further info please let me know. thanks
Did you read the stickied post at the top before posting??????
The blue/red wire has nothing to do with the door ajar switch, it's for the switch illumination. The BK/Y wire inside the door is the one that needs clipped if you choose not to repair it properly.
