Getting wires into doors on my 05
Hi all,
Any tips on the best way to get wires into the doors on my 05 f150?
On the body side it has a big square connector with a grey lever to lock it in place.
I suppose I could just drill through the connector, but even to do that tidily I would probably need to do a lot of disassembly to be able to take them out. The right hand side one might be easy once you take the fusebox off, but the left looks harder.
Is there a better way? Are connectors to plug into the back of them available? Can old style rubber grommets be swapped into the same openings?
Thanks.

2 methods.
1. Getting a bone yard connector to add then into the factory connectors.
This is a bit of a PITA.
2. If you feel around in the upper right hand corner of the connector, there is some unused room. You would need to check if you can get the size wire through the connector holes ( where the pin snaps in ).
This would be removing the connector, feeding the wire from the wire down the door, and into the connector pin holes, then taking up the slack to re-latch the connector back into place.
Neither is any fun, I guess it comes down to the wire size and the application.

Thanks, although I was hoping for an easy solution.
I don't think 2 will work for me. I have a very bare truck and want to put a lot of wires into the doors to add power locks, windows and mirrors.
Do you know if the body side of the door connectors are hard to remove? I don't think I can get good access to them to drill or whatever with them in place.

I don't know if the XL ( XLT ? ) connectors are the same size. I would like to think they will hold the same number of pins as the XTL with power doors / windows. The ones that I have seen ( not every thread ) on the new body style were the pre-connector builds.
From what I saw looking from the under the dash view point, it looked to be a pit of a pain, but many doable with a set of 11" needle nose pilers ?
That is a SWAG, I did not try it to see if it worked.
This would be a case of trying to remove it at a bone yard ( to get the pins and wires ) to avoid breaking a retaining pin. I will do this on some items, rather then cracking the plastic on my truck ( did this to figure out the coin holder mount on my 4x2 ).
Sorry, but a trip to the bone yard with a late build '04, '05 or '06 might be the best next step.
Sorry it is not the exact info you were looking for, but it is all I have info, and thoughts on the topic. Maybe check some of the threads on adding power windows with '04 and newer ( this area of the forum, and the '04+ section ) to see what they did ??

Thanks. I will see what I can find. I know not every question has the type of easy answer the asker was looking for.
I think I have been through all the power fold mirror threads, and most of the power window threads and not seen anybody say how they solved it. I might start looking at speaker install threads and anything else that goes in a door and see if I have more luck.
