Weird dome light issue on 05 model

Ok, first let me tell you that I did Search before I posted since I too am annoyed when folks ask questions that have already been answered several times in other threads. However after reading through several threads over 5 pages of results I decided to just post a new thread.

In the mornings (normally in the winter) I go out and crank my truck before climbing in. When I start it the dome light goes out and stays out regardless of my door being wide open. I then have to either turn it on manually or close and open the door to get it to come on so I can have some light to continue loading my crap.

Anyone else have this problem or know if there is a fix. I realize it's pretty minor, but sometimes those little things are what really annoy me.

Just thought I'd drag this back up in the hopes someone has heard of this.

How long does it stay on, if you ONLY open the door?

Er, until I close the door. I've never left it open and watched a clock or anything so if it has some kind of timer independent of the door I wouldn't know it.

Yes, the LCM should turn it off after a few minutes if you just leave the door open. I'm not sure how the LCM is programmed to behave if you leave the door open during cranking, but I'd assume it's doing what it's supposed to. Have you read the owner's manual?

Have you tried spraying WD-40 into the latch? '97-04 switches are known to get stuck causing the light to stay on all the time, and that's the fix for them. Maybe it'll help yours, but IDK.

Mine does the same. When I crank the truck with the driver's door open, the lamp automatically turns off. I believe that's how it's supposed to be (from the factory), but not sure why.

No, I don't think it's an issue since the light works perfectly as far as opening and closing the door goes. Just the weird going out with the door open on startup bit that's a nuisance.
