Question Trailer Lights?!

I have a 97' F-150 XLT - It has the round factory trailer light plug at the rear - I use an adapter to go to flat 4 for my camper. At first I had nothing - then found a bad fuse for the running lights - they now work.

Can not get the brake and turn signals to work? I checked the large fuse in the dist box under the hood by the firewall that the owners manual states works them, and it is good.

Any ideas?

Is this the 20 A fuse in the engine Minifuse panel ?

Shown with the cover off, the red base :

I can't thank you enough - Sure enough as plain as day the 20a was blown. I never opened that cover as it had tape on it. I was looking at the big 20a in the dist box.:o

Thanks again - I can now camp again and trailer safely!

The factory trailer lighting on the 97 is a real Frankenstein setup. You have that fuse in the mini panel, a running light fuse in the main panel, then the whole auxillary relay box that was kluged on there (for which I still haven't found any documentation).

Good luck....

Like that one. Why tape a fuse panel closed ? Ford was not quite at the top of their game in '97 & '98. '98 they thought they were, and left the minifuse panel out of the owners manual, but put it in the truck still.

Glad that was it, if it was the relay I was out of luck as Steve pointed out.
