Airbag dashlight
Airbag dashlight
2001 F150-airbag dash light flashes twice, pause, flashes 7 times, pause, repeats this cycle three times, then stays lit. It does this with the airbag switch on or off. Have disconnected the battery and tried again...same same. Ideas?
Hello,
First let me say that you can't clear codes in personal safety systems, without repair.
The code 27 suggest the passenger air bag (deactivation lamp) is blown, shorted to ground etc.
Not a biggie but still a fault.
If a dealer scans for code, they will probably see either a B1884 or B1890.
Hope this gives you a steer on what to do.

i've had a similar situation just start with my 94 f150, no passenger airbag, the light flashes 2 pause 3 long pause, but only on occasion, it may do it if i start the truck now and when i shut it off and start it the next time it doesn't...

That wiring runs across the R side of the dash, down the R kick, under the R threshhold, to the base of the R B-pillar where the rear sensor is mounted. Water leaking in tends to collect under the threshhold, corroding the wires, and people often run screws thru the threshhold, damaging the wires.

Simple fix. I fixed mine yesterday in fact. The deactivation lamp is blown. Do you have key switch that allows you to turn off the passenger air bag? If so, then pull off the dash assembly, remove the three screws retaining the air bag deactivation module. Once this is done, remove the top of the module with a straight screw driver by prying it off. Remove the small circuit board. Use a soldering iron to heat up the solder and remove the blown bulb. Go to Radio Shack and buy a 1.39 cent 12 v. clear buld, mine had long red and white wires leading from it. Solder it in place and watch you airbag code go away.
