Unhappy No Brake Lights

Blew a fuse and replaced it,turn signals work after new fuse but as soon as I touch the brake pedal the fuse blows again. I disconnected the plug for all my tail lights, tried it again and still blow the fuse. A friend of mine mentioned the multi-purpose switch on my turn signal, anyone else have any idea what could be shorting out? Appreciate your help!

Wondering if you found the problem? Was it the multifunction switch? I am having the same problem.

Check the switch on the master cylinder, see if it is leaking. If it is , unplug it and go get the recall done. This could cause a serious fire if not corrected.

I thought the recall did not involve my truck. It is a 2003 and I have owned it since new. I think I should have got somthing from ford saying if it is in the recall I hope. Please someone let me know if it was in the recall so my truck doesnt catch fire. Then I can rule out the multifunction switch.

It is not the multifunction switch I am talking about. It is the pressure switch that is screwed into the master cylinder that shuts of the cruise control when you step on the break. Unplug this and look down the connection. If you see brake fluid in there, that is causing a short that blows the fuse to the brake lights. You can leave this unpluged until you get it fixed if it is leaking.

Read up in the forum, plenty of posts on it
