Wiring Multiple Gauges together
Wiring Multiple Gauges together
Alright, I've posted this on 2 other sites and I'll see what comes up. I havn't had any answers so far so I'll see if you guys know. Im trying to wire 2 gauges together by using the aftermarket tach(which has power to it) and connecting the new gauge wires to the tach wires, so i don't have to use extra wire to go down to ignition, ground, light...etc. I drew a picture but its kinda hard to understand.

The tach is the gauge that is functional now and I'm looking to splice the new gauge(dpic) to the power wires. Keep in mind that I'm going to do this behind the gauge pod, so it will be in the cab, not under the hood or dash.
So will this work?

That is all you need for the gauge to work, you are set, nailed it first time.
Illumination lead ( white ) Power lead ( red ) and ground for the gauge functions and illumination ( black dashed ).
I did not look at the Autometer specs for the DPIC gauge to see if it needs anything else ( appears on the surface to be self contained like G-Tech type units ), but you appear good to go.
Keep in mind that each manufacturer might not use the same wire colors for the same functions ( VDO and Autometer seem to ), just verify which is illumination, power and ground.
Good luck
