Dead batt
Dead batt
My 05 sat for 3 days and now its dead.Like most places up in the north east its VERY cold.I put my handy sears charger on the batt posts and set it for 2 amp charge.Left it for an hour and went out to check on it.It said full charge? So I open the door and the dome light is nice and bright so I am hopeful at this point.
Turn the key and get 1 weak click.Ok must be a bad connection and its not reading the batt correct. So I clean the chargers clamps with a wire brush as well as the batt posts.Set it for 2 amps and turn it on.Still shows full charge.Ok so I set it to start witch I think is 30 amps.Shows full charge so I turn the key.I get a fast click, click, click. So what do I do now?Is the batt toast? Is my charger toast?I dont have a car to jump it off of.Its only got 10K on the truck and I used the charger to charge my atv batt about 2 weeks ago and it worked fine.
I am still under warr should I just get ford to come and get it?
My fear is they will just charge the batt some and get it to start. If the batt is falling on its face after a few days with nothing left on wont it just die again?

the battery shouldn't go dead from sitting for a few days but, it does sound like the battery is dead. maybe it has a bad cell or even froze. it needs to be fully charged and load tested. if the battery is good after charging then you need to figure out why it went dead.
Take the battery out and have it load tested.
Clean the terminals and the connectors to be sure.
Check all the positive lead connection locations for tightness.
The interior lights will light normal but the starter can't draw heavey current thru poor connections.
When you see the interior lights dim at cranking, that's a sure sign of poor connections or a bad cell in the battery.
It's really not a big mistery.
