Can I change the lighter socket to 12V socket

Question, I have a 2006 Lariat f-150 and I don't smoke so I was wondering if I can get a 12V socket (like the one on the rear of the center console) and replace the lighter socket?

Will the wiring/connector be compatible? ie will it be a diect plugin for the wiring?

Does the lighter socket have 10 or 20 amp fuse like the 12V conectors?

The reason I ask is that 12 volt objects seem to fit better in the 12v socket than the cigarette lighter.

Electrically, it's identical, so yes: it'll work. Mechanically, IDK if the other type of socket will mount in the dash without further modification. Your owner's manual will tell you what else is on that circuit & the size of the fuse. Don't install a larger fuse.

Don't you already have one at the right of the HVAC controls?
