Drivers Side Window Intermittent
Drivers Side Window Intermittent
Hi All,
My drivers side front window has become intermittent. All the other windows work fine.
When the drivers side front window stops working I hear something under the dash that sounds like a relay clicking.
Since it's intermittent I am guessing a relay, fuse or harness has a bad connection.
Any help is greatly appreciated.

My 2001 did the same thing. Mine turned out to be a bad window motor. When it stops working, hold the switch and slam the door. If the window starts working, replace the motor. The clicking sort of threw me off the scent of a bad motor but that was all I needed. Hope this helps you out.
P.S. If you find your motor to be bad, do a search for "power window" and you'll get all the info you need.

Give this a try :

Dad's did stop again, which now is dirt easy to get the motor out with the holes. Some day he might replace it

I checked the thread to the link you provided. I checked out Chillers bolt pattern. Looks simple enough. I remember pulling the interior skin on my 97 lariat and there was a self adhesive plastic barrier between the door panel and the interior trim. Does 03 screw's have this as well and should I purchase a new one when I tear it off to get to the window motor? Do I have to get an oem motor or can I find them elsewhere like rock auto or other places? Also is there a pretty good tutuorial here somewhere on exactly how to remove the interior trim panel?

tlepley,
Dad's '01 has the same plastic barrier in it. If you are careful peeling it back, it should stick back on. Don't know if the past time you had it off, it had issues with this. If not, maybe tape it back on with something like 3M clear duct tape ? Don't know if this could be bad, it just needs to be sealed shut, and that would fit the bill.
You can take a look around, maybe check with your local dealer, I have read posts where Autozone has them ( got me ? ) or maybe a Rock Auto. The other is the online parts places :
http://www.oemfordparts.com/ ( TX )
http://www.fordparts.com/ ( WA )
http://www.fastpartsnetwork.com/ ( FL )
I have had great luck with all 3, maybe pick the one closest to you, so it gets there in 2 day using ground shipping. If they don't list it in the parts, I know Ken at fordparts.com usually gets them aded to a cart in under 1 hour ( sometimes in about 10 min ! ) with a link in the email back, to buy them.
The best luck I have had with directions for removing the interior panel is to have someone download the directions for the Muth Signal Mirrors. This does a pretty good job with pictures, of showing how to get the interior door panel off. Just select the F150/F-250 light duty for 1997, and then File -> Save as the pdf of the directions, and follow them to step 12.
If you look at picture 12 in the directions, I think that large white wire is the power window motor wire sticking up through the speaker hole. At least that is what Dad's '01 wire looked like on the motor, and the pictures in the other thread are the same.

The 7/8" hole saw was not that hard to control, at least the one dad had was not, and it is somewhere in the neighborhood of 15 to 20 years old ( contractor ) and well used.
Think that is all the questions, if not, let us know and we will try to get you on your way.
Good luck,
Steve

How to get your stuck window up:
Stand beside the truck with the door open, facing the edge of the door. Press both hands against the glass, one on the outside and one on the inside. Push the window glass up. It should lip and slide up an inch or so. Holding pressure against the glass with the Inside hand, press the Up Window button. The window motor will, hopefully, take up the slack and hold the glass in the new position.
Lather, Rinse, Repeat until the glas is ll the way up.
This works if your problem is mechanical (stiff, stuck regulator linkage) which, in my experience, it usually is.
