Headlight Improvement
That was my thought as well.
These look like something to install, so when the end of the connector melts, you can pull it off, put the stock bulb back in, and take it to the dealer to complain. ??
Your route is the same route I took on my Kawi ZG, upgrade the (marginal ) factory harness to avoid the marshmellow roast party under the hood ( or in my case, gas tank
) .
Also, they probably put out more light due to the ( correctly ) oversized wire to the battery, with a true Heavy Duty Harness upgrade.
Those look like a way to get someone to part with MSRP $39.00 of their money, where there is about 3.00 in parts ( bulk rate ) and off shore labor, 0.65 per in building them. Wish I had thought of it !
~ 3.65 invested in each, add in another 1.00 in packaging for 4.65 and sell them to the distr chain for 18.00 each, net per package 13.35.

Steve,
I hadn't seen the HD sockets that you posted pics of. The ones I'd seen (At Advance Auto Parts) had the socket on one end and bare wires on the other. I guess after one melts the OEM socket they could butt connect the new ones in - only to melt them at either the butt connectors or the socket. As for the ones you shared, all that should do is move where it melts from right behind the bulb to the other end of the connector. Sort of like splicing a 4" fire hose onto the end of your garden hose so you can get more water out of it - or adding a Turbonator to your tail pipe!
