Grounding in the dash?
Grounding in the dash?
If I wanted to ground to the frame behind the dash (center where the radio is) are those bare metal beams a good place to do that? Silly question I know, but a bad ground is horrible to listen to. I'm going to add a fuse box in behind the removeable panel to hook up interior accessories to. Plus there are holes, so all I'd need to do is add a bolt to hook ground wire up to. Also, would you add a fuse in line from the battery to the new fuse box??
I'd run a heavy ground wire from the firewall to the dash frame, and then you could be sure that they're OK for accys.
Yes, definitely put a fuse at the battery for ANYTHING you tie into it. Ford didn't on a little, insignificant optional circuit that doesn't even pull 1A at full rated load, and this is what happened to hundreds of vehicles. Several killed people.

This guy was lucky the truck wasn't parked closer to his house when it went up.

When you run the ground wire for the assy, tie it to a neutral buss bar. HD has these from Square D in the electrical section. It will give you set screw positions for holding the ground wires in place.
You can see it on the left hand side of the ATC fuse panel :
