HID lights.... if u have please respond!!!
hey wats up , ive finally got around to buy the HID kit but i hear alot about how u have to have a different light fixture because the hid causes to much glare since they are stock halogen fixture..... does it matter? anyone been pulled over? do u need to headlight assembly??
HID kits = bad results & waste of money. You absolutely need the proper hid housing or hid projectors to stay legal and get the proper beam pattern. If you want to do it right sell ur kit, go over to hidplanet and learn the proper way to do it. Thats what I did and couldn't be happer plus i'm legal now.
Any HID system that is installed aftermarket is actually illegal, doesn't matter what projectors or housings you have. The only street legal D.O.T. approved systems are ones that are installed from the factory at the time of manufacture using auto leveling headlights or properly shielded bulbs and reflectors and they are supposed to have high pressure cleaners for the lenses. Don't get me wrong I love the look and performance of HID lights. I've had them on my last 3 cars and plan on putting them in my 04 Screw very soon. Nothing beats the light output. But if you're looking to stay 100% legal thats just not gonna happen with an aftermarket HID kit. I'd say just go for it and just make sure that your lights arent aimed to high. I had a McCulloch 6000k kit on my cars and i've never had any problems with it. Make sure you get a quality kit though because there are some maufatures on ebay that sell the cheap ones and they just don't last, usually the ballasts are bad. Expect to pay about $350 to $500 for a good one, and don't forget you would need a bi-xenon kit or else you would lose the use of your highbeams because our headlights use the 9008/H13 bulb which is a dual filiment.

yo dave, im gettin the mcculloch hid kit and u said u had no problem ..... no problem installing them or getting pulled over??? much interested since i already have them. plus theres a guy in chicago making glare guards for hid problems in the stock assembly... i might check that out too
I mean no problems at all with anything. Never got pulled over, never had a failure with the lights, easy as hell to install, got my inspection stickers no problem too. If I were you i'd see how they look without the glare guards first, you may not even need them. But if you do then that would probably be the most cost effective way of getting good light output without blinding the other drivers or pissing off some cops who are having a bad day, haha. .....Actually you have the heritage right? Thats got the older style headlights that have the contour lines and such in the lenses so it might refract a good amount of light in other directions because the HID puts out twice as much light as halogen and the headlights weren't desinged for that. You might need the glare gaurds after all. Either way you should be fine though. Post some pics when you get em installed. I'm just wating till after the holidays to order my new bulbs for the Screw cuz I still have the kit from the old cars but need the new bulbs to fit.
no problem ill hafta post up tha pics when i get them, right now i just run the sylvannia silverstars... cant wait to see the difference! I noticed that the lines in my headlights too, i just thought if i aim them or whatever it would be straight . ill have to do a b4 and after picture too
