Electrical problem wiring harness torn off

Took our newly acquired 89 f-150 out in the corn field (corn was picked) drove out ok , stoped truck, did a few things, got back in truck, hit the key to start , nothing, battery good lights work radio, looked underneath and saw where 8 wires were torn off , i did find the rest of harness, it had 2 connectors on it, both look like they go to transmission, instead of splicing the 8 wires back on to the harness , i think i would be better off buying a new harness, does any one have the part # for that harness ?? thanks

You haven't described the truck OR the harness nearly well enough, but I guarantee you that you can't afford a NEW harness, even IF it's still available (which I seriously doubt).

Any decent mechanic can splice those wires back together perfectly well enough to last another 10 years, especially if you specify solder & waterproof heat-shrink tubing ONLY (no crimps).

If you really want to get a new harness, I recommend contacting Ryan on his web site. He builds wiring harnesses for several aftermarket companies, including some of his own designs (MAF conversions, etc.).

Sorry about that, it's a 1989 Ford F-150 Ext Cab 4x4 302 v-8 Automatic (AOD). the harness i was refering to was the neutral safety swithch connection, and the connector to backup light ?? , and connector to clutch interlock switch ??, only sure about the neutral switch. anyway i got underneath there and spliced them all back together , (10 wires had to be spliced back together) thought this wouldn't work, but lo and behold jumped in cab hit the key and fired right up !! thanks for the reply, will tie off and secure harness to frame tommrow.
