Hi all,
I have a 96 F150 6 (manual). When I bought it 6 years ago, the dealer replaced the oil, fuel and temp gauges as they weren't reading. Same thing happening now, only the temp gague sometimes reads, and the fuel gague is stuck at 3/4. Will recheck the fuses inside the cab, but they seemed OK.
ALSO...I am gradually losing illumination on the dash - I am down to only having the light on the tach and the radio/climate control.
AND...the interior fan isn't working! It HAS kicked in a couple of times, but is normally off.
HELP!
Thanks,
Dee

Sounds like you have some grounding issues, some corrosion on the cluster connectors, & some antique bulbs. Pull the kick panels & inspect the bright green screws with all the black wires going to them. Pull the headlight ****, the cluster bezel, & the cluster, and pull every bulb holder out - if the bulb is electroplated inside (mirrored), replace it. Test the others with 12V or a multimeter, & replace any that are open-circuit (burned out). A Haynes manual (PN 36058 w/light blue cover) shows exactly how in the last chapter. While the cluster is out, use a red pencil eraser or some brown paper to polish the contacts on the film circuit & AAALLLLL the connector terminals.
For the fan, pull the connector off the resistor plate & check for burned terminals.

Then clean & tighten all the battery wire terminals.
