One question, what trim level do you have ?
If you have a XL without a tach, this will not work in the new truck. Obviously the Boost gauge will not work either ( unless you find a vac line to T into ) and then it would only read the vac up to 0 PSI / IN/Hg ( the obvious part is without the SC installed, you are not generating boost ).
Those are the quick items I can see.
JMc posted about having the HEC re-programmed by the dealer. Another thing to keep in mind, is when you install it, your truck will not start, as the PATS info will be wrong ( the ones from the L that you got it from, those will be the RF ID tags programmed into the HEC ).
For the dealer to get the old data, the old cluster will need to be in the truck, and then once the new one is in, they will download the new info. Don't know if they will keep the millage the same, that could be a point ( Jeff L said some time ago dealers could not change this..that is what he posted, I have no confirmation either way ).
Good luck.

Lightning Instrument Cluster Question
Many thanks to those who replied to my question, looks like not a simple change over. The one thing I was concerned about was the mileage problem as i do not want to alter my registered mileage in any way. I will check with my local Ford dealer to see if the change over is possible as I do like the look of the white face cluster from the Lightning. Thanks again!

these trucks come prewired for just about everything, ive swaped over to the full xlt interior on my xl overhead console and all!
the only concern i have is... can the dealership program the cluster on the spot or does the new cluster have to come pre programmed?

I purchased the Lightning cluster 'caus I like the look of it, plus my truck has a supercharger and I found that the speedo would stop at 100mph but the truck was still going (private road don't try this on the freeway!) I thought the swap would be an easy unplug and plug in, but thanks to those who have offered advice I can see that it will require additional time and professional help. After I get it installed I will let you know the details of the install.
