Angry How to pry open engine compartment fuse box?

This is really stupid, but....

I have a 2001 supercab. I want to open the fuse box in the engine compartment.

How the #$%*& do your pry this thing open? There apparently is a hinge facing the front of the car and a "latch" up against the firewall. Should this latch just pop open with force or will I break it? I'm using a big screwdriver to try to pry it open but it won't budge. This shouldn't be this tough an assignment.

Well I finally was able to get a tool under the latch and pry it up. Isn't there some way to open the fuse box without resorting to a tool and cursing? This should be something you do with your bare fingers by the side of the road.

That cover pisses me off every time I need to open it. The latch towards the firewall is a PIA.

Yeah, I have a 1997 and my fuse box is like that too I think. It has a latch one side that you have to slide up evenly on both sides or else it will get stuck and be even more of a bitch. Ford wanted to make sure you REALLY wanted to get at those fuses.

I've got the same gripe.... I inevitably rip a nail off every time I try and open it. (Unlike most men, I actually have fingernails.... scary! They're always greasy, so it kind of makes up for it LOL)

I've never found an easy way to get them open in 10 years of owning an F-150.
