electrical wierdness
ok I have been reading several posts about the electrical probs that plague some of the F150's . I have a 97 and today for the first time, it was raining and while driving the speedometer stopped right after the 4x4 light came on and went off. along with this the drivers door window would not work, the pass still worked. also after stopping it was noticed that it was actually trying to engange the 4 wheel, and also then went to 4 low. the power locks would no longer respond to the key fob either. then I shut off the truck and the blower on the heater was still running with key off and could hear something like a relay clicking several times under the dash.
I have read this could be the GEM, I have looked everywhere under the dash and all I am seeing is the antitheft / remote lock module (grey box bolted up under drivers side)
I could not find any moisture under the dash or the floorboard indicating the problem was from rain coming in.
everything was good after work except the drivers door window did not start working until about an hour of driving had passed, and then it was temporarily intermittent.
any and all help is much appreciated.

Hi!
It definately sounds like you GEM. The GEM is located under the dash, behind you fuse box. I changed mine today and didn't need to program anything, just plug and play. You'll need to loosen the dash screws to wiggle the GEM out. I reccommend you get a used GEM from a junkyard, it'll be much cheaper than a new one. Let me know if you have any other questions.
