If the kit is made for your truck, I wouldn't see why it wouldn't work. Did you buy some "generic" remote start from a guy in a white van who had to get rid of it??? Need a little more information

i have the viper 791 xv and it works great and impressed the ladies as well, any alarm can install in any vehicle all you have to do is the wiring which isnt easy if you are doing remote start.

Sorry, its a Hornet 569t. I will have it installed by a pro I guess. I was just wondering if our trucks has some sort of PASS Key type system which would make installing a remote start a non issue. thanks

Well they do have PATS (passive anti-theft system) keys and you do need some sort of way to trick the truck to thinking there is a key in the ignition.

My first attempt was with a product that worked like a remote entry fob. You programmed it into the computer like you would a spare key. But this perticular product only worked the first time you started it after it had already been running with the key in the ignition. If we left a key in the ignition, it would start over and over again.

Now we have a box that you break the keyed part of the key off and just put the plastic part with the chip in it. It gets wired in somehow and tricks the truck. Haven't put this one in yet, so don't know how well it works.

Some kits may come with something to get around the PATS.

Yes.

There is a PATS bypass module available that you install under the dash.

This module programs just like you would a spare key.

There is a wire lead coming of the module that wraps around the ignition housing, fooling the PATS system into thinking a key is in the ignition.

Works Great

Ford branded Silver RMST here as well. I think this is the Code Alarm CA-530 ( ? ), for the RMST and RKE.
Travis can confirm the model number equivelants, and for an extra 25.00 get it pre wired and include the diagram for your MY truck.

Python system here....works great. Never have had problems. I had to get a third key for the truck from Ford. I chopped off the key part and hid the box under the dash area. Youd be stupid if you left the key intact....people who steal cars are pros at it and know all the tricks. Dont make it easy for them.

Remote start is great for getting the car warm as long as you dont have a Kings Ranch or a Lariat because of the digital temp controls. With the old **** controls you can set it and leave it and when started in will engaged the control system.

With digital systems it wont engage for some reason.

Other than that works great. I recomend them!

Got me, I had a Manual in my '01, but my '06 is an EATC and it works fine with the remote start, remembers the temp setting and if it is auto setting, or manual with a fan speed, no problem.

This could be for the newer EATC, but I did not think it changed that much.

The newer ( '04+ ) manual systems are also electronic now, and they also seem to work fine.

Works fine on my King Ranch.

Pre-cools in the summer, and pre-warms in the winter.

You can even have it turn on the seat heaters/defroster/mirrors, if you want to get crazy with the wiring.

Yep the alarm place said they needed an extra key to be stored in the car. Good idea cutting the key part off. I will have to do that as well.
