Is it possible to bypass a O2 Sensor?

It's been a long time ago...but i remember my dad puttin a jumper wire or somethin in the plug.

I found a bare spot on sensor 1 bank 1 wire just behind the plug on the computer side...no blown fuse though. i'd bypass the stinkin thing if i knew how. (I just hate payin 60 bucks for a sensor!)

Someone told me you can bypass it by putting a 3800 ohm resistor in the IAT plug. or would this only mask it?

3800 Ohms? That sounds like a little too much resistence for me

Many people sell HEGO eliminators, but IMO, they're a waste of money. Shop around & you can find a decent HEGO for about the same price.

Why not just patch the wire & leave it alone?

Start over. What code?

Installin a fixed value resistor in place of either the IAT or ECT will force the computer to stay in open loop/warmup mode. The O2 sensors are not used during this mode of engine operation. The engine will run pig-rich, your fuel economy will suck, and you'll likely burn out the cats from the excess fuel that will get dumped in them.

Bad idea.

You didn't mention a code or any other problem in your first post.
