2002 fog light issues
2002 fog light issues
Ok, I did a search and came up with nothing that helps. Yesterday I went to use my fog lamps on my 2002 SCrew and they didn't work.
-When I pull the switch on the inside to activate the fog lamps the indicator for the fog lamp shows they're on, it lights up even though the fog lamps aren't working.
-I checked the fusebox inside the truck and that fuse is good.
-I checked the relay and the fuse in the battery junction box under the hood and both appear to be fine.
-When I turn the fog lamps on and off with the switch I can hear the relay in the battery junction box click on and off as the switch does.
-I checked the bulbs and they aren't blown.
I haven't done any mods to the the lights or the switch. Are there any other fuses inline or otherwise that need to be checked that aren't listed in the owners manual? I don't have a meter to check for power. Thanks in advance for any ideas.....

You have to meter the leads, test the fuse/ relay/ feed, or use a test light to come to a decision on the fault..
Try subbing the relay by swapping with another.
The lead color code should be tan/orange from the relay to the lamps but that color code is not always correct.

I had already swapped the fuses in both the BJB and the fuse box with new fuses just to be sure. I also took a relay that I knew was working properly and swapped it out with the fog lamp relay. I should have explained how I knew those were all ok. I suppose I need to get a meter to check and see if power is getting to the lights themselves. Like I said in the first post, I can hear the relay clicking in the BJB when I turn the fog lights on and off at the switch. So it sounds like it's getting power to the relay. Thanks, Patrick.
1. Do you have DRLs installed from the factory ?
2. When you pull the relay from the BJB and short pins 3 & 5, do the fog lamps work ?
This will test from BJB Fuse # 9 to the fog lamps, sans relay and switch.
The Fog lamp icon on the main headlamp switch indicates that the CJB fuse # 27 is good, along with the ground to the main headlamp switch pin # 6, which should indicate that the output on the yellow wire on pin # 5, to the fog lamp relay pin #1 power to relay coil has power ( the click on the BJB Fog Lamp Relay ).
If the fog lamps do not illuminate when you short pins 3 & 5 ( look at the relay for the pin assignments ) the problem is from BJB Fuse #9 to the fog lamps or the ground on the fog lamp connectors. BTW : the truck does not need to be in the run position for the test to work, BJB Fuse # 9 is hot at all times.
Let us know what happens.
