new ground ??

HELP- ok here is the problem. i needed a new ground wire to my starter. i took off the old one, got the same size wire, put copper eye hooks on new wire from starter to frame, and new eye on new wire from frame back to battery. i drilled a new hole into frame and tapped hole for 1/4" bolt. i bolted the eyes together to frame. i proceed to start my truck and everything goes dead. (battery)
any ideas or basic instructions would be helpful thanks

Do you have a multimeter and have a an idea how to use it?

If so, measure across what should be a solid connection or cable while the load is on. A good connection/conductor will show little to no voltage across the good connection. A bad or open connection will show voltage possibly all the way up to full battery voltage across what is supposed to be a solid conduction path.
