seatbelt alert
To temporarly disable it you can just plug your seatbelt in and then unplug it.
If you want it to stop reminding you to wear your seatbelt each time you start up your truck you need to read the manual. The process is in there.

did mine with the door shut as the first time didn't work with it open. don't know if it really mattered, or if it was just me doing something wrong the first time.
If someone opens the door, jumps in the passenger side etc.... start over.
turn the key to the on position
wait for the airbag light to go off (about a minute)
within one minute, buckle and unbuckle 9 (nine) times
airbag light will come on
within 10 seconds, buckle and unbuckle 1 (one) time
turn off
start
should be disabled.

\For the most part right. You have to wait for the seatbelt light to go off not the airbag light. Also the manual says you should have the parking brake on. but I'm not sure that matters.

Parking brake doesn't matter. At least it didn't for me.

Ok that manual thing is a pain its really easy to just pull the wire , its on the right side on the drivers side and left on the pass, its a white connector takes 2 seconds and u will never hear it again !!

'99-'03 is different with the seatbelt indicator.
In '99-'03 the front airbags both go off, and both seatbelts are locked in the case of an accident, even with the indicator unplugged under the seat, and regardless if someone is in the seat. And on't worry about the post abut breaking a wire, when reconnecting. Maybe when doing the disco', if you don't use the retainer clip on the connector, is the only way I can see you breaking a wire.
The '04+ has the seat sensors, and everything is in a single connector. From the shop manual it looks like everything ( weight sensor, seat location ) beging disco'd the airbag fires at the lowest charge ? That is if I read that correctly. If you are my size and have the airbag fire as if you weighed 90#, all it is going to do is put dust on your face, prior to smaking the steering wheel. -> Good reason to use the procedure in the manual.
