ground wire

i need to replace my ground wire running from my battery to my starter. right now, aboud a third of the way to my starter, it is clamped and bolted to the frame, then continues on back to the starter. how important is this clamp.
can i simply put an eye hook on the wire from the battery, and an eye hook on the new wire going back to the starter and bolt the two eyes to the frame??
any ideas or hints would be helpful, thanks.

Yup, that should do it. I'd use copper crimp-ons instead of the aluminum ones though. Make sure the wires you crimp are good and clean, and thoroughly clean down to bare metal on the frame. Point being...the starter draws alot of amps, and you don't want that to be a weak spot.

you can do it like Texn said or you can get a single connector to work. If you need a longer bolt its metric M8 x 1.25,allen head makes it easy to install.
Let us know how the project turned out.
