Red blinking light

Not sure where to post, but I did try a search first and only came up with one post. My 2005 has a red light on the drivers side dash that blinks when the truck is off, but when the truck is running, it sometimes stays on solid and some times it is not on at all. I know it is not the alarm as they don't come with them. I have heard that it signals a problem code, but I would think when it throws a code that the engine light would come on.

Try your owners manual, page 97 of the 5th printing of the 2005 MY.

Theft indicator
The theft indicator is located on top of the instrument panel.
• When the ignition is in the 1 (OFF/LOCK) position, the indicator will flash once every 2 seconds to indicate the SecuriLock system is functioning as a theft deterrent.
• When the ignition is in the 3 (ON) position, the indicator will glow for 3 seconds to indicate normal system functionality.
If a problem occurs with the SecuriLock system, the indicator will flash rapidly or glow steadily when the ignition is in the 3 (ON) position. If this occurs, the vehicle should be taken to an authorized dealer for service.

Automatic arming
The vehicle is armed immediately after switching the ignition to the 1 (OFF/LOCK) position.
Remember, this is with the keys out of the ign swtich.

It is not an Alarm in the sense that you might be talking about, but it is an Anti Theft system ( aka alarm ), and actually qualifys for one by my ins company.

I would think if something is wrong, that it would stay on every time I drive it. Mine only does it every 3 or 4 starts. I'm still not sure how this is an alarm, does the truck not start if it were broken into and hotwired? I'm not too technical with all the electronics stuff on the truck. My Honda has a blinking light and factory alarm, and it is supposed to keep the car from being hotwired of someone using the radio if stolen.

Is this the same red blicking light that is under the dash on my 2006? Mine stays flashing all the time, even when I'm driving. Does that mean I have a problem?

Unless it is an intermitten problem, then it might be every now and then. You are refering to the factory "blob" that is on the dash between the VIN and the defrost vent right ?
This is the PATS indicator and the Autolamp / Sun load sensor for the autolamps ( and I think EATC on systems with those installed FX-4 LUX or Lariat ).

This is why I said, not in the way you are using the term "Alarm".
PATS section in the owners manual explains how it works. PATS is Passive Anti Theft System.
If a key that is not programmed to the truck is used to try to start it, it will not start. If I say it is not an Alarm, but a truck immobilizer, does that help ?
Immobilizer might be a better word to use.
The Owners Manual offers a system description on how PATS works, and how to program a transponder key to the truck.
A PATS truck is next to impossiable ( never say never I guess ) to hot wire. The key code is read by the HEC ( where key codes are stored ) and a result code is sent to the PCM over the UBP communications network ( not 100% sure at the moment, it could be the CAN and the ISO Comm network, but I don't think so ) to allow the start function to work.

That sounds aftermarket. The factory PATS indicator is on the top of the dash, between the VIN area, and the defrost vent.

Just Turn The key in the Ignition switch to the run on position without turning on the truck back and forth 3 times and it should stop blinking.

Seriously, read the dates. That was almost nine years ago. Besides, your "tip" is wrong.
