Well I ended up driving through some water that was over my running boards today (streets flooded, had to go get my kids) and I got some water in a few COPS, not to mention the engine valley.
Anyhow while I was under the hood I noticed that my low temp fan (185*) was not comming on and the high temp was on constantly. I pulled the fuse, which was blown, and put in a new one...no dice. The truck was hot and I had other stuff to do tonight, but I'm tearing into it tomorrow morning. What should I look for? I will probalby also pull the radiator to reinstall the fans without having those darned rods through my radiator, so I should have access to the fan in question. I just didn't want to have to rip out the entire harness and what not.
Should I disconnect the motor from the controller before testing it with a 9V battery? How do I determine if the controller is bad?
Also the high temp fan shut off when I pulled it's fuse to check (obviously) but when I put the fuse back in it didn't seem to seat very well, it seemed loose. YOu had to press it down hard to keep the fan running or wiggle it and leave it in the right position. After shutting off the truck I went to pull the fuse and it was HARD to get out, I ended up using a pair of plyers. The connection inside was still intact, but the plastic housing was melted on one side. I heard it "zzzt" when I wiggled it with my thumb.
All in all it just seems strange that the fuse was loose in the first place, shoule they be securely mounted away from the AC lines? I mean the line to the condensor is obviously hot, but I don't recall any specific instruction to keep the fuse assembly's away from anything under the hood.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

8 years later so I figured I'd give an update. I took the fans out not too long after the last post and they've stayed under my bench ever since. I'm currently looking for a new controller for the fans and am leaning towards a madenterprise dual fan controller. The original stuff included in troyer's e-fan kits were junk and I've read that he has since replaced them with better quality stuff. Somewhere around here I have a fuse holder from the original kit with a hole burned in it big enough to read the newspaper through. Scary stuff.
The fans will be going on a new VatoZone rad mounted on 1" aluminum bars like the old one to keep my radiator safe and free of those through the fins type mounts.

Mad controllers, with the passing of the owner, may not be supportable, long-term.
Besides - why on earth run a relay on/off controller ( with their current-inrush problems), when you can run a soft-start, variable-speed constant-temperature controller for roughly the same cost?

looking for a fan controller, get one from Flex-A-Lite.
- The one is still in my old 2001 running for some time now.
If you really need redundant, you can get 2 of them.
It is the FAL 31165
- Normal install is both fans @ 60% for the 1st temp, and if the temp increases 10*F, both fans turn up to 100%. AC trigger input, manual run switch input and fan defeat input ( water crossing ).
Troyer made a metal frame for mounting the fans, the Troyer set I got for my dad's RV, I called them up and ordered one for the install. If you can find when you ordered them the might sell you just the frame.
Just a few thoughts..
