Headlights work when I hold turn signal arm

98 Expedition eddie baur

I was driving down the highway the other night, and my headlights just went out. If I jiggle the arm for the turn switch's I can get them to come on sometimes. If I throw that arm forward for bright's the headlights work. Im guessing there is a switch thats bad in the stearing column, just wondering whats involved in replacing it or if you have any other ideas on what it might be.

Thanks,
Howard

You can start by checking the connetor for the MFS ( Multi Function Switch ) to see if the low beam contacts are dirty or warped out fo shape, and barely making connection.

You might be able to clean and adjust them, if not, it is about 90.00 USD$ to replace the MFS ( aka the turn signal stalk ).

If you search on Multi function switch or multifunction switch you will find quite a few posts on this topic.
