Nothing works on my drivers side door!
Here is the problem, I have a 2004 F150 Supercab and a few months ago my drivers side door controls would not work if the door was open. Then within a few weeks the controls would not work no matter what position the door was in. Of course the window childlock feature was on when this happened so now none of my windows work. So, the power windows don't work, the power doors on the drivers side don't work (the door switch works on the passenger side), my sideview mirror controls don't work, none of these buttons light up anymore either. The truck is also not aware when the drivers door is open either, no tone for my lights being on, nothing when the keys are in the ignition, and the radio will stay on. I checked the fuses and all of them are good, so now I am at a loss. Anyone out there who can help?
rip the door apart and check the ground wire, thats the only thing all those components have in common. its probably cracked were it runs from the door to the cab. it could also be losing its connection in the harnass in the door.
that would explain y it was working when it was closed, because the cracked ground wire was making its connection. now that youve opened your door numerous times youve completely broken the wire and it wont make it in either position.
grab a meter and go to work.
