Battery light

I have a 98 F150. my battery light came on and within athe day it was dead.
I replaced it and the light stayed on. My guages read a positive 14 charge.
What should be the answer?

It could be an alternator problem.

I had the voltage regulator go out in my 91.

It fried the battery.

Replace the alternator and make sure the battery is fully charged.
