fog lights

howdy gang, cpl of quick qestions, my 2000 has the fog light switch with the headlight switch, but i do not have fog lights, did ford use the same switch on all modles ?? also the local ford dealer only shows a front valance with fog light holes for a 4x4 modle mine is a 2 by, would this valance fit my bumper without problem, what im trying to accomplish is the adding of decant fog lights due to the fact i drive alot at night in rural oklahoma and the deer can be a problem, but i want to keep a clean look to the truck, and sisnce the switch is there i would assume that the wiring harness would be there but i cant locate it from underneath.

thanks all

You make no mention if you are the first owner of the truck.

If you are the 2nd +, the P.O. might have started to install the factory fog lamp kit, and gave up ??

There are several threads on this topic, if you search for it.

As for the 4x2 vs 4x4, they are the same, with the addition of getting the holes for the tow hooks as well.

I installed a 4x4 front valence on my '06 to install the tow hooks, and the previous years are the same.
My '01 I had the PIAA airdamn, which was for a 4x4 so I could install a set of the PIAA 520s in the outer holes and 510s on the inside.

If you are after a lot of light, go with the PIAA airdam, which includes the hardware to install it to the front bumper, and the hardware to install the 520s, which can be ordered a few ways.
The 520s are the 55W with the reflector have a lumen output close to that of an 85W bulb.

I took a quick look, and www.performanceproducts4trucks.com has the PIAA airdam for 217.95. I think this is close to what I piad for mine on my '01

I had the 520s in the Ion Crystal fog lamp, the options are : Ion Crystal Fog and Ion Crystal Driving, unless you go with the 520SMR, which you can get the Clear SMR Driving lense.

I also had the 510s on the inside set these were the Super White Driving versions, which had a long reach to the beam pattern. Also available are the 510 SMR which is a Clear SMR Driving lense.

The light output on these will be much greater then the stock fogs, which are true fog lamps, wide ditch to ditch light pattern. Sounds like you want distance on these.

I had the 4 lamp setup, 2 520s in Ion Crystal Fog lamp version on the outside, and 2 510s on the inside Super White Driving.

I used the harness that came with the PIAA light kits, which had the relay, switch and fused battery connections for each set.
Here is where I mounted them :

Let me know if you have any other questions.
