Question I need some Electrical help. Things beeping, others getting power, & some not working

Here are the issues I'm having:

The courtesy chime will chime all the time. Well, not *all* the time, but if you open the door. So it acts like the lights are on any time you open the door. It won't stop unless you close the door. It doesn't matter if you put the key in or not. It doesn't seem to be a key issue, just something else.

Problem number two is that the power windows ALWAYS work. Without the key in, with the key in. Doesn't matter if the car is on or off, they will work. Sure, it may be handy if I lock the keys in there, but I know it's not right. You turn the truck off, open the door and then close it. The windows still work. It's like they don't get a "Power off" switch.

Last issue: The keyless entry does not work. I can't get it to reset/re-grab the code. I've read in the book to move the key back and forth and it's suppose to lock the doors, and you hit a key on the keyless entry. Well, the doors never lock/unlock after you move the key from off to on five times.

It's a 98 Mercury Mountaineer.
5.0 V8.
AWD.
Loaded.
78k miles on it.

I know it's not an F-150, but any suggestions?

Thanks.
Milo.

All the things you listed except the keyless entry are supposed work when the key is in the on position. Maybe the keyless entry is tied into the ignition somehow? Sounds like you've got a short in your ignition switch to me.
