no high beams- Help!
on my '97 f150, my high beams just quit working. low beams work fine.High beam indicator comes up on the dash, but I have no lights when I flip on the high beams. I looked at one of the bulbs and it looks good. I'm not very electrical, and don't know if it's a fuse or switch or what. My repair manual doesn't cover this problem.
I'd have to agree with Steve, take a meter and test from the headlamp socket ground to power, to verify power on both sides, then go from there.
Next would be to check fuse position #16 ( from the '98 EVTM ), as this fuse feeds both headlamps

Have to ask, how do you post the diagrams from the EVTM? Anytime I try to cut and paste them into any image editor to enable uploading to a host, I always get the image cut in half vertically and the sides transposed.... I have to either edit the image first or print and scan it...which is why I usually don't post the EVTM diagrams even though they would be helpful.

Steve,
Good point, now that I go and look at the indicator part, that is only the diagram for the lamps and the MFS.
I actually cheat quite a bit with scraping the diagrams.
When viewing the page from the EVTM from the DVD, I get a screen capture ( shift-print screen ) to get it into the buffer ( whole screen ).
Then I open MS Paint, and paste the buffer into it. Do a File Save As, and type a name ( i.e. 1998 EVTM 85-1 Headlamps ) and change the file type to jpeg.
I then open the JPEG in MS Office Picture Manager or Abobie Photo Editor ( depending on which computer I am on ) and crop out the application window, and everything outside of it. Adjust the color, and resave. Then upload to my photo gallery here.
Sounds like a long process, but it is quicker then it sounds.
Also I do the same process for work, making drawings in Visio, and then saving the page as a jpeg, so I can email them, without requiring people to get the Visio viewer ( everyone still does not have it
), so I can adjust the picture size, and the color rendering of it.
I find that when I save the drawing from the EVTM directly ( the pdf save as ) the diagram is nothing like the one on the screen.
Any question, you can always email me via my profile.
