Cruise Control stopped working too!!
This may be a different or related issue to the other recent CC post. It is definitely a VERY INTERESTING Phenomena! PLEASE READ:
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
My cruise control quit working last night after about an hour of driving (up til then it had worked just fine) -- I have a Ford Explorer V8 Limited (2003), not an F150, however, this problem occured on vehicles back when I worked for the Ford Electronics Division (then known as ELD) on several different vehicles with multi-function switches. Sometimes the cruise and/or the head-lights, and/or the wipers would stop working and could be re-activated by simply activating one of the other systems.....yes, really!
After several unsuccessful attempts to activate my CC, getting pretty frustrated since it was late and I had an hour drive ahead of me, I remembered this little factoid about the multi-function switches. So I tried it and it worked! First, I turned the wind-shield wipers on and then off, and THEN tried to set the CC and it worked. Yes, this is a stupid work-around so I phoned the dealership this morning as the vehicle is under an extended warranty.
I am trying to find documented information on this issue--- the service dept. representative said that he hasn't heard of this issue before and I know I HAVE. Does anyone else know about this issue?? I'd like this troubleshot correctly the first time out [warranties do not last forever].
Any information would be helpful.
Thanks!
Sherry
