2001 supercrew will not start
2001 s/c will not start (93,000 miles)yesterday i tried to start my truck but it did not..battery is new.
the truck did not even turn over, I thought it was the alarm so i called the installer of my alarm (alarm is 5yrs old) he told me it was key switch. he told me to turn the key foward and bypass switch by using a screw driver on the relay on the firewall, it started. I drove to the alarm shop so a tech. could check out the alarm, it was fine. he told me that i had proper voltage going to the switch. he told me it was my key........... I drove home and tried the spare key and it still did not start.
HELP.
i did notice that my radio does not come on with the key on. I checked the fuse and it is good, but when i put the fuse back in it works. when i try to start the truck it goes out again.
also the door locks lock twice when i lock the doors.
so it has nothing to do with your alarm right? when you try to start it, does the "theft" light in the dash blink really fast? i guess not though if it doesnt even turn over.
how the hell did you start it with the key and a screw driver? that sounds crazy

If we look at the starting system itself....
This is the only diagram I have, it is for a 2000, but should be close to use for Ref material. The color codes might not be the same, but '00 to '01 seems to be the same for the most part.

You started the truck by by passing the Starter Motor Relay, jumping between the Normaly Open contacts, so it seems that for some reason the coil is not being pulled in when you start the truck.
First checks :
1. When you turn the key on, and check the voltage on the coil on what might be a Tan with a Red stripe wire ( on the relay you jumped ) do you have +12v ?
1.1. If not, it could be the DTR sensor took a powder, that is a SWAG until you check for voltage at the Starter Relay.
I am scared by what you said with the radio fuse and door locks, if the central junction box ( maybe the GEM also ) is having a fit from a windshield leak, this could cause a lot of things, including what you are seeing.
Have you had a lot of rain lately ? I hope I am wrong on this, as it is a huge PITA to change yourself, or quite a bit of shop labor time.
Let's start with if/why the Starter Relay coil is not activating the N.C. contacts, and work back from there.
I hope it is just a simple problem with the DTR sensor, or the wire between the DTR sensor and the relay.
Let us know what you come up with on that test point. I am not back home until TUE, so I won't have access to the 2001 EVTM, or the test procedures for the DTR until then. Someone else might be able to get access to them prior to that.
Good Luck

Problem was a bad relay $18 for part plus $20 to install.
Relay is on firewall pass. side. this is where I jumped it with a remote starter switch. we pulled small wire from relay and tested it with key foward in start position. It showed that there was power coming from the key. tested relay where wire is connected to and relay had no power. after we removed it the backside was burned around the size of a dime...... thanks for all your help
