Battery died - was told too small of a battery
My fiances been driving my truck for a while and last night the battery died without warning last night when she was leaving her friends house. I tried to jump it off last night but was unable too. I had to work today so my parents too her to check the truck out. They took the battery out and had it checked at an auto parts store. They told them the original battery was too small for my truck. My truck is a 2002 and purchased brand new and this is the battery that came with the truck when I brought it. So I want to know if anyone else has had a problem like this with their battery?
The thing is, she told me that there were no warning lights, no indicator of it dying. She just went to leave and all the lights in the truck would not come on. When she had it jumped, it would start to crank and then die out again but would not hold a charge at all.
I know we have had some crazy weather here in FL lately where it has went from just above freezing one day to in the mid 80's the next. But shouldn't a battery last longer than just over 3 years?

The stock battery from the factory should have been a Motorcraft BXT-65-650. Odds are, it's just age. 3-5 years is normal for any lead-acid battery. Extreme temps (hot or cold) kill 'em like flies.

Unless you're running heavy electrical loads (stereo, big speakers, and A/V equip) the stock battery is perfectly fine. Your's probably has a dead cell, which happens with age, and drained itself. You can go to AZ and have them check your altenator, it'll help you sleep easier. But get a new battery, and you'll be okay.
buy a quality battery and get a higher CCA if you have the extra money.
My truck is still running with the stock factory battery. 7 years old, starting its 8th year in may.
my stang and old bronco used battery's every 3 year because they were the ever start wally world battery's. I'll be buying another ford battery.
