Drl
Hi.
I have a F-150 2001 4.6L
I have a problem with my DRL. The lights do not come on unless I turn them on.
Which make the DRL pretty much useless.
I checked all the fuses but everything is OK
Another thing
My overhead console temperature showes about 120 F when it's about minus 20F outside.
Could the two problems be related?
If not how can I get my DRL to run again?
The overhead console problem can be fixed later.
Thanks

I'm not sure what your problem is but here is an article about DRLs. maybe it will help.

When you say you checked all the fuse, did you pull and look at all of them or the specific ones to DRL ?
DRL fuses are :
1. Fuse #9 in the power distribution box ( fuse box under the hood ).
1.1. This is for the DRLs themselves, as well as fog lamps.
2. Fuse #5 in the passenger compartment fuse box.
2.1. This is for the DRL relay, as well as a few other things.
3. When you say you turn on the lights, do both the high beam and the low beams work independant of each other, via the MFS ?
3.1. The DRLs on that MY are on the low beam of the headlamp, do both sides work ?
4. The next thing to check is the DRL relay ( under the oval of the dash ) for voltage on the RD/YE wire, which should be pin #4 in the connector.
4.1. This is with the MFS in the low beam setting, and the headlamps off.
4.2. The voltage from the RD/YE wire and ground should be at least 10 volts.
4.3. You can use the link provided above to get to FedEx Pilot's web site ( geocities web site) at :
http://www.geocities.com/skyjet1/DRL.html?200626
This will show you where the DRL relay is at, and how to get to it via the oval cover on the dash.
Once we get the answers to the 4 questions above, we can get a bit further, but depending on what you get above, is where we need to go next.
Good Luck, let us know what you come up with.
