Help PLEASE!!!
I was driving down the road the other day in my 1998 f150 4.2 v6, The radio blinked a couple of times, then went off. The Gauges went dead the truck started beeping, I assume that was the air bag, but then the truck died. To make a long story short the battery died. I took the alternator off, took it to auto zone and it tested ok, I put a voltage meter on the batery's main fuse and it wasn't blown. If anyone could help me I would greatly appreciate it, I don't want to take it to a blood sucking mechanic!
Your problem started long before the truck stopped running.
You just ran it until the battery went dead.
You need to have or check the charging system.
If no charge the battery won't be charging to keep the systems powered.
At the truck age you may need a battery and/or an alternator or it could be as simple as cable connections.
You can't alway be afraid of a shop or you will still have problems if you can't do the work, anyways.
Good luck.

My 04 F-150 has a history of this...Did your altenator make any jack hammering sounds, sounds like your truck went quietly, new battery and a new altenator will get you going, easy repair, good luck...
duh
shops suck and i can work on just about anythig, if you would of read the post i knew it was something to do with the charging system, and the alternator was ok. I finally just looked at the fuse block, anda 10 amp mini fuse was blown causing the whole problem
