lights?keyless entry?power windows?

I just replaced a blown bulb in my license plate light fixture. I cant seem to reattach the cover. Do you have to glue the cover back on.? I thought it would just snap back on but it doesnt. help?....

I just purchased a key fob for my 1997 f-150. When i called ford ahead of time to make sure that my f-150 had factorykeyless remote programming/capability, the lady told me it said N/A under keyless entry. I looked around the internet and found a site that had a standard test to find out if your vehicle is equipped with this feature. According to the test my truck DOES have keyless entry. (The test involved: insert the key in the ignition, turn from off to on position 5 times in ten seconds and if the locks, lock and then unlock automatically you are equipped.) Any opinions on this? Will it be easy to program my new key fob to my truck. The site I ordered from does include instructions.) Any experiences with this? Anything will help.

I also just ordered a new power switch for my power mirrors. Both (driver and passanger) stopped working completly. The fuse was OK so figured it was the switch. If I plug in the brand new switch and the mirrors still dont work what then..? In anyones past experience with this problem, did the new switch fix the problem? Any help would be greatly appreciated..

You guys have been great (helping out this F-150 rookie)
Thanks
Derrick

The Manual shows you took it off the correct way for a '97. Take a look at the clips on the side, they might have been brittle and broken when you pulled it off ?? It it to just push back in, and the tabs hold it in place. You might need to use Goop or another non hardening silicone to put it back into place ( very small amount ).

The manual has the take it to the dealer to program them BS in it. If you download a newer F-150 Owners manual, it has the same instructions that came with the remote fob. Just follow them, and go quick with the process, with the prgamming of all the remotes, and you should be able to add it to the RKE. You need to add all the fobs in, once you enter programming mode. Just follow the directions, just added a 3rd to my dad's '01, works like a top.

Well, you might have wanted to start a new thread on this, prior to purchasing the switch. There is a trouble shooting section in the manual, that explains how to test if it is the switch, or something else. You have it now, might as well put it in and try it. Most places ( might not apply to the place you got it from ) don't take electrical item returns. Might just be a case of too late now.

thanks and help

Got my fob today that I ordered on Ebay. Works Great! Saved $$$$!

Ordered a new mirror switch from ford (29.00) Works Great!

Did have to glue the license plate cover lights back on. Did'nt break them.
Its weird. I think they come from the factory glued like that. Kinda Ghetto.
Oh well. Works great now.

Get'n my rig all fixed up. Kinda nice.

One question for you guys though. Bed liner that you install yourself.???
Anyone ever do this? The one you roll on (black) looks like the same spray-in you would pay 400-1000 for. Is it easy. Is it worth saving the money.

Looks like I could do it all for 100-150 bucks tops.

Give me some advice.

Thanks for all your guys' help so far (escpecially Steve)

Derrick,

I did my basement stairs with a roll on bed liner ( Herculiner I think from Menards ).

After about 6 years, the nub or roughness of the coating is starting to wear down, not so much smooth, but not as rough as day one.

I have beat the living crap out of it, and it has not peeled or chipped ( dropped lots of stuff on it so far ). But this is with it applied to wood... ?

Got me, I would say it is not bad at all. One bad thing about roll in / spray in liners... If they start to peel, it is a case of they need to be ground out with an angle grinder, and re applied.

I have always gone the route of the bed mat. They can be taken out and washed, offer a nice firm hold on stuff ( sliding around ), and don't wear out ( the oldest I had one was 6 years 2 trucks ago, which makes it now 11 years old in my friend's truck..still in good shape ).

Truck Top places have them, as well as Industrial Ladder supply ( don't know if you have one of them by you ). For about 100 or so, it is a good investment. Sides get a bit beat up...well that is life..it is a truck
