Anyone run into this problem?

Well, tonight get in my '01 F-150 SC to run into town. I turn the key and I move it toward the crank position the whole ingnition switch snaps loose! I could turn it from ACC to START and nothing happens. So I figure my switch down on the column went bad and start digging into things. It turns out the switch is OK but the slider that runs between the key and the switch has either broken or become disconnected--I can see the upper part and the lower part move indepently (I've got the tilt column). The slider looks like a two-piece nylon bar that has a joint of some sort at the tilt point between teh upper and lower parts of the column. This slider is encased inside the aluminum column and I'm not ready to take the tilt apart until I hear from some of you. Let me know if you have heard of this before.

Thanks,
CS

Well, I ended up taking this problem to the local Ford Dealer to get it fixed. Steering columns sure aren't what they used to be! Anyway, my diagnosis was correct and I ended up getting a BIG discount from Jim Click Ford (parts and labor) since I'm in the Air Force. The Click dealership is offering some unbelieveable deals for military members just to say thanks. Well, my hat is off to Jim Click! Its good to be back on the road!
