A little help please

I'm a total Ford Newbie. I came from the import world. V8s are a whole new world. I recently bought myself a 1999 F-150 2wd 4.6L. It ran great, I fell in love with my truck instantly and life was great. I popped the hood open and saw that it was a mess. So, i did what I always did and gunked the engine. Bad move. The second I started it back up it ran like crap. Thats when I found this great forum. I changed the coil packs (Duralast) ran better but still ran rough. Today I changed the spark plugs (Autofire dbl platinum gapped at .54) which was a nightmare. Again, ran better but now its running sluggish at 40mph and sounds like it is misfiring. Tomorrow I am going to Autozone to get the CEL read and a new set of spark plug wires, and I am going to clean my EGR out. My question is, which plug wires to get. I searched the forum and found not to get the "cheapies". Which ones are the "cheapies", which ones should I get. I searched all around the forum and did everything that I found. Did I miss anything? Any advise would be greatly appreciated.

Go with MSD or Moroso or maybe Accel. Just stay away from the house brand. Also, use tons of di-electric grease. Good luck. Oh, and good choice leaving the import scene...

Went to auto zone, got the p0306 code. I changed the wires and my truck runs greater than ever. Thanks for your advice.
